Barn Swallows (Hirundo rustica)

We have many barns, all of which have several ways in and out so we are very privileged to have lots and lots of swallows nesting with us every year. We see them flying high around the courtyard during the day and watch as they pop in to feed the wide gaping mouths in the barns below – a real sign that summer is on the way.
