Equipment suppliers: Fort Apiculture

As it’s pouring outside (the promise of summer days didn’t last very long!), my thoughts have turned to replenishing my beekeeping supplies. We’re based in the south of Vienne (86) and have limited places to buy any beekeeping requirements….

Fort Apiculture are based about 1¼ hours north of here (nr Chatellerault) and tend to be where we go to stock up – personally I like to see what I’m buying rather than buy it all mail order. They have pretty much everything that a hobby beekeeper requires except the bees themselves, and the owner is knowledgeable and helpful (but only speaks French).  Given the distance, we tend to make sure we buy everything we need for the year ahead in one go so make sure you compile your list before setting out (and don’t be seduced by all the lovely stainless steel gadgets when you get there!). But don’t worry if you’ve forgotten anything crucial, Fort will send out small items by mail for just the cost of the p&p.
